FLYING KITES is a non-profit organization based in the foothills of Kenya's Aberdare Mountains. The school serves as a center of excellence. Here, critically-poor students receive a competitive education, integrative health and social work services and access to holistic support. In addition to their comprehensive educational framework, they work with a network of partners to identify and address other barriers to learning to ensure that students are healthy, safe, engaged, challenged and supported. These interventions include a school feeding program, water and sanitation initiatives, programs to combat gender-based violence, health and wellness initiatives and livelihood support. Their LaunchPad initiative helps students enter adulthood as self-sufficient leaders, ready to multiply their impact as agents of change in their communities and beyond.
ETON'S STORY - Eton is in Class 6 - He sleeps in a stall, with a calf. Coming to school, getting three meals and a chance for a better life is the best part of his day.
JAMES' STORY - In 2007, James came to Flying Kites. Now, ten years later, he is on his way to Wentworth Institute of Technology. We're so proud of you, James, and equally grateful to the Flying Kites community who believe in children. In their rights. In their dreams.
